Member Removed
Hi, My names Jack Simmons and i am a Television Production student from Bournemouth University. I'm looking to make a film about a fisherman or woman for a assignment as part of my course. My task is to create a short documentary about someone from the Bournemouth area based on the word 'portrait'. I would like to be able to film someone who passionately enjoys fishing as a hobby (or even competitively or a career). I would hope that the film would show viewers an insight into what offshore fishing actually involves and why you enjoy it so much. The film will only be used for this assignment as as part of my groups and my show-reels (on YouTube) although my tutor will be entering the best films from my year into a competition which if it won would be shown on ITV1. If anyone is interested or knows anyone else who may be interested in helping me please let me know. You can reply to this message, message me on here or email me directly at jacksimmons77@hotmail.co.uk. Thank you. Member Removed
Thanks for all your support. To anyone who is interested we have to film over 2 days on the 18th and 19th of March but if we know in advance we may be able to change those days slightly if we get permission from our tutor. If you think you want to help either contact me directly through my contact detail in the 1st message or through Paul Jennings, club chairman. Thank you again Jack

Thank you again Jack I too would like advance notice if my next fishing tripon the 9th of March will go ahead or not...... Seriously Jack, fishing is dictate by the weather god and there's not way of telling what the weather will be like on the 18/19th, even with 2 days to go it can change drasticly. Good luck tho. TomBettle
Hi Jack I think if the documentary was to focus on the positive aspects of our sport and the skipper / angler as a responsible, safety concious person then I would expect many of us would love to help - I certainly would. The downside is that the dates you have are right in our toughest time of year. Sport inshore is all but non existant and sport offshore can be hit and miss with long distances required and no guarantee. If your tutor can allow you much more flexibility over the dates then we can almost guarantee you a spectacular film with genuine enthusiasm, excitement and results. In addition to being a tough time of year, the actual tides on those dates will be pretty tough to fish efficiently. Finally, make sure your gear is fully insured. The skipper, his boat and crew will all be covered, but your equipment may not be. I know how much the cheapest broadcast quality HD camera can cost (
Sprinter
It also may be prudent to let your tutor know that any form of bad weather will render those dates impossible to film over if you want actualy fishing footage. However if you are happy to film the preperation for a trip followed by the frustration of having the weather against you then that could be a good slant on your film, especially as it matches the true reality fo fishing
