Paul J Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 I went to the BASS AGM on Sunday, Henry Gilbey Sums it up better than i can on his blog so here goes: SIZE=7]Henry Gilbey - the world of fishing" - 1 new article[/size] The B.A.S.S. AGM - what a fantastic day out Yesterday was the AGM of the Bass Anglers' Sportfishing Society (B.A.S.S.) and it's open to any of the members to come along, and if the idea of an Annual General Meeting kind of turns you off a bit, then you need to throw those preconceptions out of the window and get along to it next year. I had been asked to come along and do a talk on photographing bass fishing, but really my stuff was a minor part of what was just a fantastic day that flew by far too quickly...... Now that I know a lot more about B.A.S.S. and what they stand for, what they are doing tor the better of our sport, and also the fact that the club is actually made up of a whole load of very keen and friendly bass fishermen, I simply can not understand how any angler with any interest in going bass fishing is not a member of B.A.S.S. It's about the best Quote
petesnr Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Fantastic Paul! The award reflects the attitude of the members many of whom embrace conservation wholeheartedly. Long may it last. Peter Quote
Rob Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) Excellent well done. i was very proud and humbled by this. sounds like another term could be on the cards Mr Chairman!!!!! Rob p.s. how did the pike fishing go? Edited March 23, 2010 by Rob Quote
Paul J Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 Rob, Thanks for your support but it is in the clubs best interests to find a new Chairman. The Pike fishing was pants although it was still fun - 3 pike to 12 anglers, i got a solitary brown trout of 2 1/2lbs which fought like a paper bag ( over wintered and covered in parasites) PJ Quote
Ferret Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 well done paul, a great accolade for you also for pbsbac, many thanks and best wishes from me bill smith Quote
Paul D Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Well done on the conservation award Paul. I was well pleased to collect the silver certificate for my Bass too ( and the guys in BASS should be pleased that it will also, hopefully, win the club C&R trophy which they have donated to the club ) It was notable that the club was also mentioned by Geoff Gonella ( I think that was the guy ? ) when he held us up an example of how clubs are moving in the right directions. Finally, have to say the BASS guys certainly didn't come across as "elitist". Quote

great white Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Well done Guys Great to read the recognition for your feats and the Clubs efforts. PJ well done mate a truely well deserved award. The newer Members may not be aware of how much effort you have put in over the years and behind the scenes to form the existing bond between the BASS and PBSBAC. Likewise Paul D A great thing to catch your first double figure bass, and even better to let it swim off, giving it a chance to breed again. and of course Peter Who regularly reminds us, that it takes an effort on all of our parts to try and sustain the sport we all love. His dedication to the conservation cause gives us hope. It has made me think over the years of ways to do my bit to ensure sports for younger anglers like Sam and Dan. Nice one guys Quote
