The Maxximus rods make a good second rod. The sort of thig you pass to a mate who is joining you to try the sport for the day, but do bare in mind that a decent set of rings that are truly "braid rings" will be around

I think they a awful - so light, yet strong and cheap, truely awful!!!

I have a maxximus 20-30 and use it as a Mackeral rod and for guests on my bout who are new to boat fishing, I find it a great rod for the money.

It didnt stand up to hitting Tuckton bridge but then neither did my Suveran, I did replace it though as it suits my needs for the money.

I also replaced the Suveran with a 20lb class new Suveran evo, it had a good first outing with a bass and 4 congers up to 35lb.

I have expensive rods and solid c rods but at 60p a week for these rods its worth a go and they seem quite good so if i trash 1 in a year not a great loss

cheers

Anyone know if it's the solid-c or not?

I think it's worth a short drive to Salisbury 2mrw just in case they are.

I love the solid--c, have mine for the last 4 years and only needed one replacement ring. Not for wrecks but great great fun for conger on the open ground, best conger was about 45lb on my 10-20lb solid-c. cool.gif
