The recall affects all F225, LF225, F200 and LF200 4-stroke outboards for model years 2002 through 2004. Yamaha states excessive friction in the ball joints of the throttle link rods may prevent the throttle return springs from returning the throttle linkage all the way to the idle position. If that happens, the company says, the throttle may stay at a fast idle speed that could prevent the operator from shifting the remote control into neutral unless the engine is shut off.
