mw Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Do you need insurance for a yak if so what company do use mark w Quote
Harnessboy Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Hi Mark No, is the simple answer, thats not to say you can't insure it clearly . Either for it's loss or liability, i'm quite sure there are any number of companies willing to part you with your hard earned. I have two and neither is insured, i am personally through the AT. Hope that helps. Paul. Quote
lofty Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 I checked with my company about it being nicked. It's insured on the house if its padlocked on the roof of my car if it's on the drive, but not if I leave it in a carpark. Definitely worth a phone call Quote
Overrun Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 A good idea to have personal liability cover, which I believe you'll get from either the AT or BCU, there's no legal requirement to have it. Handy if you clobber someone coming through the surf etc. and they sue. Check first with your home contents cover as personal liability insurance may already be included, although they may baulk at the Kayak. Not sure it's worth covering the Yak, unless one of the more expensive types, Dorado etc. Quote
biggcol Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 I think you should have third party liability at least for your own peace of mind. Worst case scenario you might scrape the gel coat on a sunseeker or the like!!! How deep are your pockets!!!!! Colin Quote
fisherman1055 Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 You may have 3rd party liability with your house insurance its worth checking first Tony Quote
