Myself and Si are out Friday as there is a weather window. We will launch our kayaks from Southbourne beach about 8.30 and intend to take the flood down to Christchurch ledge. Si has a humminbird 385 gps combo so it would be great if someone has some numbers to input just to know we're on the ledge. I'm presuming it runs out from Hengistbury head . We then intend to take the ebb back.

The blue bit sticking out form HHead is the "Ledge". It goes for a few miles out to the Dolphin Sands.

Can be 12\14m on the west side - rising to 5m on top of the ledge.

Just watch the breaker on the ledge when there is a big swell, esp wind against tide.

Dont go too far out and drift or perhaps pick up a pot buoy!

Best of luck Steve.
