JIMBOB
Hi All Neap tides, great forcast and a free day to go fishing. Mark and I have always wanted to do some sharking and we have been before on charter boats, so armed with shark traces, huge floats, sack of bran, tub of fish oil, a custom chum bucket, custom chomping stick and wire cutters (just in case we did get one! ) we headed out. well the night before! The plan was to fish out as far as fuel supply would allow(

JIMBOB
It Was an adventure!, hardly ever get to fish in the day so wanted to do something different! Shame about losing the big eel, no doubt you will go back for it It was a big eel too! and on my heavy gear it was a really strong fish it even went uptide!, strange for an eel! Problem was I was half asleep! The ratchet woke me up and the line parted when it lunged back downtide, my drag was to tight and found a weak spot in the braid........... It will be a spot I fish again! I recon it could throw up a bigg bass or two aswell

LilBrit
They used to get the Porgies just South of the Island. I fancy a go at the sharking if the weather picks up before we go back to Portland.

islander99
Does anyone remember when in 1981 Ross Staplehurst from Bembridge was out sharkfishing 5 miles south of St Catherines in his 23 foot boat when a 400lb thresher jumped on board. With a flick of its tail it broke one mans arm . A guy I was working with was there that day ,he didnt stop talking about it for months. if you google it you will get all the info.
