Coddy
Hi all As I was board sitting in the airport lounge waiting for my plane to get ready I thought I would buy a mag to read. (Yes Mad Mike they did teach us to read north of london ) I noticed the following bits of information Poole Harbour Commissioners are cracking down on boat owners who try to avoid paying annual harbour dues. 50 owners were to receive summonses in the Small Claims Court for non-payment. Question: Do we with trail boats have to pay harbour dues? Christchurch have revised plans to remove 1,000 cubic metres of silt from the mid-harbour bar and a similar amount from the moorings near Tuckton Bridge. This is likely to be approved after councillers were reassured they will not harm conservation or open the way to larger vessels. Lastly a new web cam has been installed on the Dolphin Quays apartments. You can now get an instant check of the conditions before starting out. see www.dolphin-quays.com Regards Coddy
great white
Thanks Coddy I will check out the webcam. In fact the Yacht Clubs wind instrument that takes readings from the large wooden platform in the middle of Poole Harbour will soon be linked live to the Yacht Clubs website When it is I will post and our members can view wind speed and direction as it is in the harbour. As for Harbour Dues the answer is yes I am afraid all motor boats have to pay The annual rate is the cheapest way overall and regular checks are made at most launching sites. Bob F
Coddy, Apparently, when you pay your launch fee at Baiter it includes your Harbour dues. Not sure about other launch sites. BF

Newboy
Well, your cousins over this side of the county boundary (well Porstmouth council anyway) has got it right. No charge to launch and no charge to park in Winter months. Warsash, Elmore, Stoke bay, .... just to name a few.

Langstone and Chichester both charge harbour dues, I'd have thought Portsmouth would as well? Launch fees depend on the slip and usually seem to include the harbour due in most places. I was told that the slip near Gosport is free to use, though. Steve
great white
Do you therefore get a reduced fee if you have pre paid annual harbour dues? worth checking At the Yacht Haven our charges are calculated for an average 10 metre boat Daily Charge is
Newboy
Not sure about the harbours, but the 'open' slips don't charge. The majority of slip from Hythe to Gosport don't charge, but some charge for car parking (as well as trailers) in high season.
