Slow day at the Needles

Well, how many boats can you park s of the Needles? Well at least 60!

We joined the crowd and anchored where we wanted. Result was loads of doggies, a tiny thornback and a few poutlets.

Still the weather was nice.

I hope others fared better than we did.

Hi Chris I saw you out there as I was on charter Rapid fisher again beautiful day and 30+ doggies landed on the boat, small spotted ray, after moving back west we did manage 4 lovely whiting and more doggies. Highlight of the day was on the way in just off sandbanks we had a pod of 10-12 dolphins and one pup playing in front and to the side of the boat we could almost reach out and touch them, that made up for not catching any cod but what a fantastic site to see. biggrin.gif

Blimey, I'd guessed it was slow all round judging by the charter boat chit chat on 6 but that's not a lot of cod for that amount of effort.

Still if you could guarantee the fish it would be boring, although happy to be bored every now and then smile.gif

We had a nice early start to maximise our daylight time.

0715 we were on our way to the needles car park, when we arrived an hour later there were so many boats it was hard to find a known mark that did not have a boat on it. [we counted 72]

We fished the whole tide for many many LSD and pout and one tiny conger.

By 1400 we moved and White Magic came with us to a mark 5 miles nearer to Poole.

More LSD but at least here there were a few whiting for the table

[ben had a PB which was great for him, but not that difficult as had never caught one before laugh.gif ]

A lovely day to be out fishing, but a very slow day

Charlie,

Did you make Ben practice weighing the fish this time!

We went some way away from the assembled masses - but still caught bugger all!

Apart from hundreds of Dogs and one very small eel. Even the skipper couldn't understand it.

No point moving because no-one else was catching either!
