I was lured out by the calm interlude ....what a mistake !!

Swell was lively on the Bar as I pulled up...but looked OK in the deeper parts.

Inside, the harbour was flat as a millpond, but dirty brown, with lots of debris and a horrid , pervading smell of drains !!

Tide was ebbing [which kicks up the Bar a bit more] but negotiated a few rollers with no issues. Bit of surf on the Beerpans, so took the long route, out and around.

Tied under the Head for bait, but water so brown ... and that swell was so uncomfortable at anchor......managed just one doggie.

With frozen bait in reserve, went for a few drifts. Not a breath of wind but the big swell persisted.........and it didn't feel right going up and down so much.......and I wasn't feeling so good going up and down so much !!!

So called it a day [morning] and got in before water went on the Bar.

Thought I'd have a go for flounders inside.....but horrid smelly water was pouring out and the remains of last week's worms had self-destructed !! ....it didn't look good.....so home for coffee. and early lunch. Better luck next week.

Wonder if James got out ??

Alun.

Hi Alun

Not like you to have such a bad day

I spoke to Paul when Imagine returned , but will leave him to post

The weather inside Poole Harbour was great all day, we managed to do all of the boats and the preperations for next weeks dredging, and at the end of the day Alfresco came out to have the snapped control cable changed and the gel repair done.

We got out on a cracking calm day on Manta Ray, the conditions started with a slight swell but it flattened off as the day progressed...Lots of eels... 56 lb being the best ....loads of whiting and a few cod to about 16 lb....

Tried for Mr Spikey...on the Bridge at dusk, fishing live pout....but he didn't want to play...

All in all a cracking day afloat, considering the weather conditions 12 hrs before... sick.gif

Great crack and great crew.

I was out Friday afternoon in the bay. It was a struggle and couldn't buy a bite. Saw a huge raft of rope float by, maybe 10x 15 feet circular. Too heavy for me to drag in so had to let it go. Sorry chaps as that will f#ck somebody's props . Water was expectedly nasty. Well done all who got the window .
