Rob Posted July 19, 2013 Report Posted July 19, 2013 Fished out of Christchurch this evening and wasn't greater by a very nice sight: It was on the east of the channel out if the harbour (on the straight bit by the first bar). What was worrying me was when we came back in the dark it was no longer there! But we scanned the area with the spot/lamping light and couldn't see it! R Quote
Rob Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 I forgot to mention, I called the Portland Coast Guard when I got back home. To ensure they were aware of the sunken boat. Just incase everyone assumed everyone else had called them!!!! They advised that they were aware of the sunken fishing boat and the owner was recovering it yesterday evening. I guess they must have had a barge arriving with a crane or similar. Quote
niggle Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 That was in the run when Mal and I came back in Thursday night ,I believe it had sunk on the ledge and it had been raised by divers and air bags but only managed to get to the run when some of the air bags had deflated Quote

R Hi Rob, Airbags inflated by divers and towed in by "Mister B" around 8.00 pm last evening while I was having a swim, no wonder you were confused ! Did someone forget to inform the coastguard ? Great basing and battery issue well managed. All the best, Mike Quote
Rob Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 Thanks Mike! I just wondered how it was recovered on yesterday from the run. Barge and crane I guess. Rob Quote
Tiderunner Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Rob, No barge and crane, floated with airbags just enough to move off the bottom then a line attached and towed back into the harbour by a local boat "Mister B". Nearly got stuck opposite the quay but was successfully recovered to the harbour around 8.00pm. Mike Quote
