Coddy
Found this site, http://stressfreemarine.com.au/index.html which shows some good ideas but I think the NG series winch would be best as it has free fall deployment if you want it. Downside they are in Australia and the Europe distributor is in Italy. No mention of prices either. Dave Martin.C
gaffa
There are a few alternative manufacturers in Australia one of which is http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-CmGwE_CkRc They could be the best thing since sliced bread for us guys depending on price availability and reliability .just a bit worried about the motor availability over here Lots of stainless rod holder fabrication by this company I dont think it will be a cheap installation Nice to have though
Coddy
The only problem I see with the above system is that there is no support on the end of the drum. I am sure the motor/gearbox bearing will take a hammering! Looking at other manufactures of a similar designs they are all look the same, seems prices are around £700 upwards in Australia, all we need is a UK distributor, however would everyone be happy with a max of 130mtrs + chain on a spool? Would you feel you would need more? I know many boats in the UK have 200+mtrs of warp stowed but these winches seem to use smaller diameters of around 6 to 8mm Might need a good sized anchor locker for all that stuff to be installed.
