gaffa Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 A geat result for both senior and youth teams Although I wish I could get my head around the points scores listed they are doing it in  It must be an age thing Quote
Mike Fox Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 Points were based on the total of fish caught. Rankings were based on the lowest total of "boat positions". The French and English U21 totals were the same. They then looked at the number of 1st place positions - "boat wins", and the French had more 1st places than England. So...the name of the game was to be best on your boat - for which points per fish counted. Hope that clarifies.... Mike Quote
gaffa Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 Too Complicated for me Mike I still like the simple life....Either have the most or least points to win..... Peteg Quote
Stuie Posted October 22, 2014 Author Report Posted October 22, 2014 Guys - boat positions to count for each team member is the fairer way to decide which team wins. One team member may be fortunate enough to be on a boat that has a red letter day and everyone catches lots of fish. Alternatively you may be on a boat that does poorly. The best anyone can do is to win their boat. This system removes that lottery and recognises the best team no matter what boat they fished from. In competitions I have been involved in each boat winner scores 1, second scores 2 and so on. The lowest aggregate team score wins. Fish points are used if there is a tie on boat points. I hope this makes sense. Quote
gaffa Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 Thanks Stuie Sensible rules and scoring however it is still confusing when the points re positions seem random as in the listing below. I would have preferred the points being left off the list.as they provide no useful comparison due to the method of scoring To the layman(me) it would have been more logical Seniors Top 5 Team results 1st England 939 points 2nd France 935 points 3rd Italy 770 points 4th Ireland 720 points 5th Croatia 770 points Seniors Top 5 Individual results 1st Matthieu Hervouet, France 216 points 2nd Colin Searles, England 231 points 3rd Dejan Struna, Slovenia 184 points 4th Marco Volpi, Italy 237 points 5th Sylvain Ferachoglou, France 174 points U21’s Top 5 Team results 1st Italy 762 points 2nd France 597 points 3rd England 640 points 4th Croatia 572 points Slovenia 436 points U21’s Top 5 Individual results 1st Anthony Giacomini, Italy 260 points 2nd Thomas Claverie, France 184 points 3rd Jordan Davis, England 125 points 4th Lorenzo Arnone, Italy 140 points 5th Mauro Luksic, Croatia 161 points Quote
Stuie Posted October 23, 2014 Author Report Posted October 23, 2014 It can be confusing and in competitions I have fished the champion is decided by adding together all the fish points on each boat and working out each angler's performance as a percentage of the total fish points on that angler's boat. Not simple and not perfect but fairer than straight fish points - for the reasons I set out earlier. Quote
