Not sure if you've heard of Basspro (www.basspro.com) the US based tackle retail chain. With the price of the dollar against the pound it's certainly worth a look.

 

They have some real bargains (reels, rods, line, lures etc.....)

Grant, Ive been working on tackle importing from the US for a while now, the prices are very good. I am looking at setting up a small scale tackle shop on line, offering sundries etc...rods and reels are cornerred by far bigger fish than the likes of you and me!!

When I went over they had a sale on rapala plugs in World Wide Sportsman in Islamorada, Florida. It is a huge tackle shop the size of a large supermarket stocking almost any fishing tackle you could imagine and is also a Bass Pro outlet. They even have a large fish tank on show containing bonefish, tarpon, permit, grouper etc. Needless to say I spent hours looking in there! I wonder if a tackle shop on that scale would be successful in the UK.

there has just been a shop similar opened up in glasgow it was in one of the bfm.

had several pike and a few bass on them. my dad lost a bass at the boat that was around 7lbs on one of them.

i would love to catch a pike there such good looking fish.

 

i really need to get up and see you alex for some fishing i might try nagging dad for a trip up next weekend if thats ok.
