Welsh salmon inquiry concludes

The Angling Trust made representations to the inquiry into the proposed all-Wales byelaws which would prevent the taking of any salmon by anglers and a ban on some fishing methods. We challenged NRW to address the real issues such as pollution and predation which are causing far more damage to stocks than anglers. We were appalled by the aggressive tactics of NRW’s barrister who launched personal attacks against volunteers from angling clubs, at vast expense to NRW. Well done to all those from Welsh fisheries interests who gave evidence. The inspector will report back on 17th May after which Welsh Ministers will make a decision.
