jack
Left Poole at 9am.seemed rather lumpy ,so we fished the outer end of the Swash channel, called up " any poole boats,no response".stayed there for an hour or so,but loads of weed, making a mess of my lovely beaded outfit.,,sea settled a little so went around to Ballard and tried for BB's,nothing doing.called on radio again without reply and was convinced we were alone out there, very few other boats about,Tried groundbaiting but no results after 2hrs.moved 2ml off,had a doggie [hoo bloody ray ! ] Heard a poole boats call and replied. Life at last !! Thank you Tina marie..Radio signals seemed poor, was it us ,or was it general ?. We called Gt, White and Blue Warrior, and although I think we got Gt, White ,it was badly broken up and we gave up.We then went down between Peveral Bouy and St Albans ,Drifted for a while and picked up a nice Bream on completely the wrong gear {no justice ] Drifted toward Poole ,picked up 4 wrasse . I on a huge bait !.Saw boats against Ballard and moved closer in and anchored. Had beautiful bait and groundbait, sat there for over an hour watching the closest boat catch one Bream after the other whist we blanked {and sobbed quietly ].We called it quits and started in only to see a makeral trip boat drifting and hauling in strings of fish.At this stage it was too late to worry about being embarrassed, and the prospect of taking home supper was too great to resist, out came the feathers and we drifted 50 yards from them, their boatman was THROWING FISH BACK !,try as we might we got nothing, they went home while we fished on for 10 mins more and eventualy got 1 makeral before dashing to catch the bridge. So now you now how we manage to fish all day for nil results, although this was a GOOD day...jack
duncan
Jack, So now you have discovered the only thing worse when not catching than seeing schoals of large fish on the fishfinder - sitting next to someone else hauling out fish! Better luck next weekend.

Swainiac
Hiya Jack, we too, heard you on Loyal Royal, however, when Charlie replied to you, and he was close to us, and you couldnt pick him up, it seemed silly for us to try. When we had steamed closer to home, you had gawned!! Next time maybe. Rich
great white
hi Jack We heard you several times but as you were at ballard and we were at St Albans all attempts at conversation were not succesfull. we tried but did not think you heard us that well. our day was not too good but in the end the weather eased. we will try again next time charlie
Bob F
Jack, Congratulations!!!! Fish at last!!! We heard you on Blue Warrior and tried calling you several times during the day, but to no avail. It's the Bream comp next Sunday and you WILL catch Bream!!! That's an order!! Is Andy getting on OK with his Simrad plotter? If not, I've read the manual and could give him some tutorials at some time. BF
jack
Thanks one and all for your replies.Despite ALL we had a nice day,and after all,it was far from blank for us,but now having caught something we are getting ambitious.I am sure that all who heard us tried to reply,Charlie's initial responce nearly blew us out of the water, although it scattered to pieces ,did you get that sound system from the Rolling Stones ?.I do understand that our radios are more or less strait line reception jobs,so cant expect to hear you, if there are cliffs etc.in the way.The fact that so many heard us is comforting, and shows we are working o.k. Andy seems to be getting to grips with the simrad, although he won't let me have a play with it,I cant think why when I have almost mastered setting the Video. we shall be breaming next Sunday all being well, and are now OPTAMISTIC....jack
