Cargo ships collide mid-Channel A rescue operation was launched after a mid-Channel collision between two cargo ships that left a crew of up to 15 sailors stranded. Russian ship Yamal began listing to one side after colliding with Antiguan vessel Jessica B, 20 miles south of Anvil Point, Dorset, on Monday night. The Yamal, with its Russian crew still onboard, had to be escorted by a French tug towards the Isle of Wight. A helicopter and lifeboats were on hand to evacuate the ship if necessary. Deeper water The crew of the 133m (436ft) Jessica B, which was sailing from Antwerp to Dublin, reported minimal bow damage and continued on its journey. Both English and French coastguards responded to the crash, which took place in calm seas. BBC news 7605 Mad Mike
Newboy
I might be keen and naive, but I'm not stupid, I ain't going nowhere miles off shore without a (few) buddy boats. Isn't Bliss back next weekend and he said he wouldn't mind coming out as a safty boat?
