Ben Posted March 2, 2022 Report Posted March 2, 2022 Morning all Was good to attend the meeting last night and see new and old faces, I've got to bite the bullet and get a new cool box I've looked at the iceytek ones and not that keen on the empty weight of the box in the size I want 22kg!! Wats everyone's view on the igloo boxes as these ones seem a bit more managable. Let me know your thoughts Ben Quote

great white Posted March 2, 2022 Report Posted March 2, 2022 I will have a look to see what size my igloo is. and see what identification it has. It is a great box that keeps ice for ages. a bit better than the older smaller Coleman. I also have a smaller igloo that is the right size for taking to Norway, its a great cooler for keeping ice but the hinged lid is not designed to keep rain or spray out so not that great for onboard. jerry.shutter Posted March 2, 2022 Report Posted March 2, 2022 For quality and ice kept for an extraordinary length of time icytek/yeti you will struggle to beat. Though heavy and pricey plaicemat 1 Quote
djredrupp Posted March 3, 2022 Report Posted March 3, 2022 I brought a smaller (55 I think) igloo cool box this summer and have been relatively pleased with it for the price - seems to do the job for at least 2 days food. (Yeti / Icytek would have been great, but $$$$$….). Worth checking which igloo models have insulated lids also…. Mine did not, so had to modify it with some spray foam. Quote
Tarlach. Posted March 3, 2022 Report Posted March 3, 2022 I bought an 80(?) ltr Coleman which keeps ice etc good for 2-3 days. You do need to pre cool it for 24hrs first, I use 4 x 2ltr coke bottles that are filled with water then frozen. I then third fill it with bags of ice. Works well on the boat and weekends camping. plaicemat Posted March 3, 2022 Report Posted March 3, 2022 I have IceyTek 70ltr long box and 40ltr cube one which seem to cover most of my needs for both catch and provisions. I only tend to use the bigger one for longer trips and it keeps cold for 5 days with ice still in there, although obviously depleted. Not being a fishmonger, I find this plenty for my needs. I do have a trolley as supplied by IceyTek for transporting to and from the boat which at my time of life is a god send. I also have a Coleman which I use for inshore trips which is fine for a day until the following morning but the quality is not as good and it is starting the break up. A little tip I use, put blobs of bath sealant mastic on the bottom of the boxes to stop them sliding around on the deck. Terry. Quote
