alun j.
Second weekend running........ and other trips...... and I'm having great trouble finding the mackerel for bait. I've tried drifting, trolling; deep water, shallower; different size / type of lures.... ...... and am only picking up the odd singleton!! No shoals anywhere inshore [and little better last wek off-shore]. Are they away spawning ?? [ I noticed the early ones in May had roe] Is this common this time of year? I realised that I would normally be fishimg with worms this time of year so maybe have been unaware of temporary lack till school hols has me out more regularly. Learning curve?, Alun. Bob F
They are out there, but seem to be grouping into bigger shoals, so that when you find them you find them big time.

Paul D
Alun, We had trouble finding them on Sunday but Elaine started catching just west of Southbourne rough. They seemed to be right at the bottom but very sporadic finding any.
blueboatdriver
We found plenty yesterday West of Southbourne Rough and they were very near the bottom. Filled a bucket in about five minutes.
