Liberty Posted September 21, 2022 Report Posted September 21, 2022 What are all the red buoys just outside the harbour entrance for? No numbers or letters. Gummage 1 Quote
Rob Posted September 21, 2022 Report Posted September 21, 2022 Big ones? Small ones? Where do you mean?R Quote
plaicemat Posted September 21, 2022 Report Posted September 21, 2022 Just what I was wondering, surely can't mean the channel markers. Terry. Quote
great white Posted September 22, 2022 Report Posted September 22, 2022 The ones going straight out mark the swash channel and are numbered. The others towards the Isle of wight, mark the East Looe channel, which can be a little shallow on Low Water Springs. Quote
Liberty Posted September 22, 2022 Author Report Posted September 22, 2022 No, these are small red buoys just outside the swash channel, some are 8 metres apart, others seem to be single and randomly placed. I don’t think they are pots or long lines as they are too close to the channel. Perhaps environmental tests? Quote

At low water you can usually see the nets. Quote
Mal Thomas Posted September 23, 2022 Report Posted September 23, 2022 Whelk pots or dare I say it nets for rays is a possibility. Quote
Ohgreatone Posted September 24, 2022 Report Posted September 24, 2022 They are orangy red, basketball size all around the swash, I was told they are nets. Quote
