Member Removed
I have just been reading the comments on "speed"(no, not the funny stuff) and the Harbour Master. Can anyone explain to me how they have time even to consider chasing boat owners re:speed until they have hung all of the Jet-Ski morons??? Apart from thinking that they have the divine right to moor wherever they see fit on the ramp at Baiter,I have only ever seen ONE (and SHE was a lady)who took off at anything like regulation speed. Last Thursday I had to wait for five minutes on my approach to the ramp while two ar...oles played "doughnuts"around the speed limit signs!!!AND a H/M boat had only just passed me!!!! I only found the H/M telephone number when the little darlings had left. (I was so angry I stamped my foot.......SO THERE!!!!!) I did get their numbers however and the object of this little rant is to ask if anyone knows if the H/M ever takes action on third party reports"after the event"? If I thought it would do any good, and a prosecution got some good publicity I would be prepared to sit for an hour or so with my camcorder on zoom to give them some concrete evidence. Is it worth a try???? Must admit, writing this has got it off my chest......a little!!! BobD
great white
Bob I think that the Harbourmaster/ Port control [VHF Channel 14] would be interested in any report of such activities in the harbour. especially if you have the numbers of the ski's concerned. I am not sure if anything would be done. though if you radio call them they may send over their own jetski to have a look. a call to his office should clarify if it is worth videoing next time. john c
Bob Looks like someone else is becoming a Victor Meldrew. It does help to rant. Keep it up. Returning from Boscome Pier Monday before last in heavy sea's into wind, Mad Miller managed to outrun a two up jet ski. As the Bournmouth web cam site seems to be down, it was very tempting. It would have only been a small dent in my pointy bit. Anyhow I took pleasure in seeing how unpleasant it was for them. Perhaps I'll get them next time.
