Manic Moore Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Anyone thinking of Saturday as the weather looks like its improving. Not sure if I will get my GPS back in time to take Cushdy out. Saturday PM evening could look good on the bridge! So could be up for crew Quote
Paul D Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Gordon, Saturday PM evening is looking a possible for me ( post football though ). Friday afternoon / PM is definitely possible ( I will need to check weather though ). Fancy a Friday trip ? Quote
Manic Moore Posted September 14, 2005 Author Report Posted September 14, 2005 Sounds like you've been doing some grovling mate! Friday is probably a no go for me, as I'm a bit busy at work and the weather looks a bit iffy too. What sort of time and what did you have in mind, Bass plus a short stint for conger on the slack? Quote
Paul D Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Gordon, Just looked at the forecast and I see what you mean. I might go for a Sunday trip ( I am going to see if I can persuade my son to go ) as the weather looks the best for then. If not then I could be up for a Saturday PM trip for Conger on the ledge ( dependant on how much of a swell is left from Friday ). Quote
Swainiac Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Gordon.....I've been offered some early season Pike fishing up in Derby with fat boy Mark - AKA Piemeister this weekend, but would have liked to crew to catch up on what I've missed these last few weeks......maybe sometime soon? Les L. Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 was planning early start/early finish on sunday to IOW out of wick,no crew arranged yet if anyone interested Quote
Deep Sea Dean Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Les, I think we will be taking Maverick out on Sunday. Not sure where yet but might see you out. Quote
Paul D Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Les, If you haven't crew then I would be up for an IOW trip Sunday. If you have crew then I could take Neo and hopefully find crew. Quote
Les L. Posted September 16, 2005 Report Posted September 16, 2005 ok for sunday - so is that Manatee and Neo with paul and gordon crewing ?.My mobile has been nicked work is 0207 337 2513 Quote
john c Posted September 16, 2005 Report Posted September 16, 2005 I might take Mad Miller to IOW early on Sunday. What are the tide times like for drifting the bridge ??? Are there still any Makerals out there for bait????? Quote
Paul D Posted September 16, 2005 Report Posted September 16, 2005 HW at Freshwater bay is at 10:07. Will let you know re: mackeral when we get out there I fished the bridge using stormies a couple of months ago and we had two fish each that day, so that will be my backup plan. Also, I think we will be fishing Freshwater bay as well ( will decide when we get there ) Launching from Wick at 6.00 AM and I think Manatee is launching at around 6:15-6:30 ish ( I need a head start ). I will be fishing on Neo with a work colleague. Quote
john c Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 Thanks Paul D Early for me is about 07:30 so with a bit of luck we will be on station around 09:30 unless I can persuade lazy crew to get up earlier and there is enough water in the river to get of the mooring. I'll get some stormies today but would appreciate info on makerals. Regards John C Quote
JIMBOB Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 John try 1 or 2 miles SW of the xchurch ledge on the way over, or just on the edge of the ledge, straight out from highcliff on the 30 to 70ft slope .If that fails Out past the bridge about 1/2 mile of the back of the Island if there not there just keep trying further out! Good luck James Quote
john c Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Thanks James Managed two makeral on the last spot then a couple of scad while the feathers where hanging over the side during the tea break. Nice Bass to the crew though on a frozen and twice refrozen 6" makeral of dubious age. Only 4.5lb but a nice fish. Thought I sam Neo out there and tried the radio. Is it channel 4 or 6 that we use?? Paul D Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 John, Were you anchored up close to another boat ? We came along, fished for around 15-30 minutes and then moved off. Maverick was anchored close by as well. Channel 6 is the channel to be switched to. I was listening out but didnt hear you call. Quote
john c Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Paul We were drifting all day. What a nice change to not have to worry about the anchor. When we saw you we were 1/2 mile due south of the needles. Now tuned to channel 6. Regards John C Quote
