daviduk
Hi Six of us fished the needled grounds yesterday . Dropped anchor about 3 mile S of the light ,stiff N/E blowing and a bit lumpy ,we anchored on a Dog Kennel ,Dog after Dog after Dog ,so after 3 or so hours we decided to move about 4 miles E of where we were for the rest of the day and the fishing picked up straight away . 4 congers around 40lbs , 1 strap and 2 lost , 3 Smoothounds ,2 Spotted Rays , 1 Whiting around 3lbs several large Pouting and only a few Dogfish alas no Cod. Swainiac
Hi Dave, I was talking to MIke form UK Hooks yesterday, he's based on the IOW for those who dont know, he told me that cod are now showing off the Needles, the best so far is a twenty two pounder reported. Farther round the Island, more fish are being taken, although a recent Cod only comp fished by 85 or so anglers produced just 10 cod to the scales, which is quite poor. Ted and Mike have now sold "Due South", so our club will be looking for a new boat in the new year, we have a couple of trips left for this year, so hopefully may bag a last cod for the two skippers!! I bloody hope so, I havent boated a winter cod in two years now!! Rich

duncan
the latter Jack a nice run in good conditions but it's like a carpark there in good conditions at weekends. sometimes the Poole marks outfish the Needles, other times they don't.
