We went out with Lady Godiva from Weymouth yesterday, caught 46 bass between 2 of us. Dave the skipper certainly knows his stuff, we fish morning and afternoon and both session were very good, which is a rarity, whenever we were out with Pat or Josh only one session is brill the other tends to be pants. We used different tactics thru out, we used shads, then sandeels when it slowed down, then pirks with hokki.

Fishwise, mostly small one, a few 2-3 lbers. Still plenty of mackeral around.

Dave, if you are out on the Bill, look for the two smaller lights on the eastern section, start your drift just prior to the rip, keep an eye on the lighouses, when they line up......thats the end of your drift.....hence Lights in one. This is a great area for Bream too.

If you PM BoyBilly, I'm sure he'll give u a few more tips down there.

Is a really good mark for Conger and Huss / general rough ground, but the tide piddles through there so pick a small one to anchor.

Hi Rich

I have always fancied going out around the Bill but have been very warey of the race etc.

I suppose it is a case of going in calm conditions on a neap tide, think I would like to buddy up with someone on the first trip, just in case. unsure.gif

Was wondering where lights in one was.

Thanks for the info

Just as you approach the last section of the Bill (from Weymouth or the East) you will see the main Portand light on the end, but before then there are two smaller lighthouses.

One is near the cliff edge and one littleish one is right near the top.

The contours shown on your plotter / fishfinder become the mark known as Lights in One as these two lighthouses line up.

If I remember properly they line up in a roughy East by East South East Direction.

We have fishd this area a fair bit and find that anywhere from the line of pots close in to about a mile or two off will produce good fish, however the bass boats seem to be quite a bit more specific.

Dave, Ive been across the rip there in small boats a few times now, and aas long as u keep an eye open for others parking up, your Warrior will handle a medium swell there fine....ask Adam, hes done a few down there now.

Tom, the bass seem to show right across that section of water, moving from area to area as the curl of the tide sweep moves, so you can generally find them if they are there. Ive only ever caught tiny Huss on that ground, I would reccomend moving farther east, towards Lulworth. Thats where Mark B bagged me my match winner on Loyal Royal...cheers budweiser!!
