Mike Y
Had a great day at the Boat Show yesterday. A fantastic array of boats and equipment although not a great amount of fishing tackle - apparently there is a 4 day fishing special later this week. I met Tom briefly on the Jeanneau stand - good to meet you Tom and looking forward to fishing with you soon. As regards conclusions on the boat front we came away thinking that for our own type of boat usage we already have the ideal boat - Warrior 195. We really look forward to the new 20 foot Warrior coming out later this year. Having said that, I loved the Arvor 230 and 250 - just fantastic boats. Hi Mike, The 20 footer is still on the cards then? Did you get a look at the new 165? I'm off on Sunday to look over it, be interested in your opinion. TomBettle
Hi Mike Nice to meet you at the show, and for that matter any of the rest of the members that said hello. I was dissapointed to see that the new Warrior Pilot House wasn't their and on talking to the Warrior guys they said that they couldn't focus on two projects at the same time and so the "Pro Angler" took over. Didn't spend a huge amount of time looking, but the pro angler seems to be a 165 that they have put a fold away cuddy closing kit on. There seemed to be no obvious differences apart from some basic ones giving the opportunity to charge more money. Oh well, they still build excellent boats though. Seamouse
Hi Tom, I tried to look for you on Sunday (wife wanted me to blag her a free coffee ) but I'd forgotten which stand you were on! After wandering around the Sealine stand staring at all the name badges and making the poor guys nervous, I gave it up as an impossible task. Re the Pro Angler, they've taken 4 inches of deck space away to give a LOT more storage, changed the interior to a gel coat and Treadmaster finish, altered the way its built and changed a few minor details, including transom mods to allow for the bulky hoods of current 4stroke OBs. We spent several hours climbing in and out of both that and the standard 165 and its really a case of swings and roundabouts. Anyone who has need to fish 4, or regularly has three aboard, will prefer the stock 165. I tend to mainly be 2-up these days and if the money's right I'm very tempted to give the Pro Angler a go but it is a very close-run thing. TomBettle
Hi Steve Sorry I missed you. I would have been happy to grab 5 mins for a coffee. Duncan and I planned to grab a beer, but timing being what it is we never managed to actually do it... If you were looking for me on the Sealine stand ( Grrrr ) you wouldn't have found me unless I was there pointing out that the S34 had a CE plate C for 6. Sealine are my arch rivals (along with Beneteau, Arvor, Quicksilver, Ocqueteau, Rodman, Starfisher etc etc). At Southern Motorboats we exclusively sell Jeanneau's from 15 feet through 50 feet. The range includes centre console sports boats, pilot house fishers, cabin cruisers, sports cruisers and luxury flybridge and sports boats at the top end. Although many other brands were declaring doom and gloom with massively reduced attendance figures, Jeanneau (power) actually had their best ever London show with sales of more than 4 times the figure of last year. As a dealer, London is normaly a tough show with not many people making the trek up from the South Coast, but we managed nearly 5 times the sales of last year, so we are dead chuffed. Hoping for a good selection of boats to nose around for our open weekend / office launch at Salterns on 28th and 29th January. There will be a few fishers to view, but all are welcome to come and look around any of the boats and nab a glass of champers. As mentioned in another post, I am sure I will be available to talk Pollox should anyone want to join me! Tom
Guest Guest
If you were looking for me on the Sealine stand ( Grrrr ) mea culpa, all I could remember was that your company did large boats As owner of a rocket-powered bathtub, I get a bit blinkered about the more serious stuff. If its any consolation, all the Sealine reps ran away when I sidled right up to them, smiled and tried to read their name badges Steve p.s bought HRH a cappuchino in the end. Seemed a fair deal, I drag her right across London, pressure her about buying me a boat we can't afford and for
