Paul D
Reg, Springs are best for the bass, although last year Paul J had great sport one day on a neap tide. I usually fish out of Christchurch and you can fish in the harbour there for mullet but the upper stretches you will need a rod licence/permit. I am usually happy to go out in wind up to F3 in my Orkney 520. The wind in the summer is predominately westerly ( I think ! ).
