Afishionado
Guys, as a self confessed hi-tech phobic I am struggling with a Garmin 76 hand held. It has so many features and buttons that change their function dependant on the number of times you press them I get frustrated and lost within it's programs. So....... Is there a really simple idiot proof gps (fixed) with a chart reading (if that's what I mean? ie a picture of a chart and a dot showing where I am) feature. I am worried that the sort of thing that does everything will be beyond my ability to remember what bl00dy button to push The kids got me a mobile phone for Christmas marketed under the banner ... A mobile so simple even your dad can use it! Is there a GPS in the same category? Mad Mike
TomBettle
Navman 5500 or 5600 (bigger). Turn it on and it does what you have described. There are more detailed functions, but it really is a case of turn it on and off it goes. Dead Easy. The above are last years models, they are still available, but have been upgraded and I can't remember the new models are (I think 6500...?) Can't get easier I promise. Bob F
Yep, it's called a compass and chart. Otherwise, take a look at the Lowrance or Eagle range. Go to the Lowrance web site and download one of their emulators and a manual and have a play with it. I'd suggest the Globalmap 3500C. Here's the emulator http://www.lowrance.com/Software/PCSoftwar...M3500C_demo.asp Here's the manuals page http://www.lowrance.com/Manuals/default.asp The Garmin range will be no different to your handheld in terms of complexity. Newboy
I have the 5600 and it's dead easy to use, no fancy functions (maybe there are but I haven't bothered to look for it).
