When I visited my local chandler on Saturday to purchase a new flare pack and asked if he could dispose of the old ones I was told that no one, except the Coastguard, will now take old flares back. So straight down to the Coastguard office on Poole Quay only to find it shut, but it doesn

Last time I disposed of flares I had to telephone the Coastguards before delivery so that they had a metal container to dispose of them available.

 

I admit I did have 25+ flares some going back to 1970!!!! ohmy.gifohmy.gif

 

But they took all of them no problem, however this was on the East Coast but I suspect the same applies everywhere.

 

Could also call the RNLI and see if they can help

You will need to phone the coastguard to arrange a time, but they will take them

 

as Dave said they need to have their container available and some room in it. so call them to make arrangements
