plaicemat Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Just been looking at Google Earth and most of the slipways we use are given in great detail, e.g., Baiter, Christchurch, Mudiford, Cobbs. The launching and parking areas are clearly shown and the route to them. Additionally, the navigation channels are plainly visible. This could be quite a useful tool for describing these features to newcomers. Terry B. Quote
Paul D Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Last time I looked they only had Christchurch in high res. but as you say, they now have Poole as well. Must admit, never thought of using it to describe launching to newcomers ( although worth bearing in mind that the Christchurch channel has changed since the photo was taken, but there again not that much ). off to survey Poole now Quote
great white Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 When I last looked at google earth I believed it to be up to date but on checking the yacht club it did not show the changes to the marina that are now 4 years old the pictures may be a lot older than you think try looking at west bay or even your house to see which car is on the drive? plaicemat Posted May 4, 2006 Author Report Posted May 4, 2006 Even so, I don't think the slipways themselves and the parking has changed all that much. Terry B. Quote
