Manic Moore
Of you regular USA visitors, where's the best place to go for discount tackle? Rich, I know you bring a few bits back, where do you shop?
Coddy
Hi Gordon Apart from the usual BassPro shops which are great for discounted products and even the FPO would like to wander the clothing area! Most local shops I have seen have been from tin sheds to the usual shops where information and prices are just as keen. You need to know the UK prices as some are more expensive than the uk. Have a good trip Coddy

Swainiac
Gordon...I'd echo Matts advice........K Mart, Big K, and Walmart are by far the cheapest places to get tackle. Their braid is increadibly cheap, as are stormies, and plugs. Go into a Bass Pro shop, and check out their Rapalas........they have bargain bins, selling standaard Rapalas for a $ !!!!!!! they cost around eight quid here. You should have got an exchange of around $1.68-9 to the pound before you went, so its a good time to buy. Happy shopping...........another tip...find a tackle shop next door to a shoe and handbag outlet Mrs Manic wil love it!! Rich Ps Gordy, try and find a source out there for DO-IT moulds, and check out their prices please.......they retail at
Manic Moore
Thanks everyone, I have certainly used Walmart before. Hey Rich, how about $1.83 to the
Paul D
Mike reported reply :- The big Walmarts have a sporting goods section with a good range of tackle, rods, reels, rapalas, all sorts of braid, and polaroid fishing sun glasses etc. Also VERY good quality T shirts at silly money, Also note, in Walmart if they have left an item unpriced you get it free! A big chain called 'Sports Authority' is a must for a visit. You can buy anything from a spoole of line up to a $250000 sports cruiser ready to go. They tend to be far more professional then Walmart, with bang up to date info about who is catching what where with which rod and whatever lure and all very gung ho slap yer back fellah! Manly sportsman sorta thing. But then again you pay for it. Walmart is just a shop with loads of very well priced gear. Also where ever you go it is well worth checking out the boating/chandlery sections where you sometimes find amazing bargains like a set of 4 matched fenders with ropes for $29.99 and they can supply them deflated for you to pack, or soft leather dock shoes at $20. Sears are a good bet too if there is one near you (The Florida Mall Kissamee ?) . K mart is where you buy the local fishing licences (sea and fresh) and they too have very reasonable sports sections. Good hunting. Mad Mike
Afishionado
Thank you Paul Mad Mike PS to Gordon.......... If you are near Kissamee have a visit to Boggy Creek Fishing Lodge, a fun trip to the home of Big Mouth Bass fishing
Swainiac
Gordy, seeing as you are a visitor to the state, state law says that you dont need a fish licence to fish from the beach, piers, floating pontoon docks, or other structures. If you take a boat out under charter, the skipper has paid his dues, and includes these in the cost of the charter. Be mindfull of size limits for snook and redfish, redfish are excellent eating, as are the sea trout, somewhat different to our sea trout. If you sneak up alongside pier stantions, or dock supports, have a look down and see if you can see Sheeoshead feeding. these look like our bream, but have distinct blue and black stripes. Easily caught with the big barnacles prised of the wooden posts, and hooked onto a size 4 or six. They steam off like trains, so a well set clutch is essntial....happy hooking!!!! Fugazi
My wife returned from a Florida business trip last week with some nice Rapala's from Bass Pro that worked out at half UK price. She also picked up some interesting floating coloured bead rigs that I think are designed to keep your bait up of the bottom and away from those bait robbing crabs. Not seen them in the UK so assume that's what they
Swainiac
Gordon, floating beads, or pop ups are used frequently on the match scene these days, very brightly coloured, good for bait robbing crabs, superb for mackeral, first rate for gurnard too. plaicemat
I bought a load of pop-ups recently on ebay for peanuts. Excellent for bassing in the harbour to escape the pesky bait pinchers. Terry B.
