Sharking

OK Guys

Just a thought and nothing set in stone, but I am contemplating a day attempting to track down a shark or two on friday 14th.

Big Tides aren't totally ideal as it will my first effort and I would have liked something a little slower, but beggars conat be choosers.

I am looking for 1 crew man for the day to join Abbie and myself.

The crew man must be capable of handling the boat if it is my rod that gets the strike, for if it is a biggy we will need to use the boat to it's full advantage.

The chances are it will be a day of not much apart from seeing what exciting beasties arrive in te rubby dubby slick, however if it comes good then it will be one hell of an adrenalin rush.

I have traces hand built by the UK's Big Game guru's "Rok-Max" and a harness.

All you need is GOOD quality 30 to 50lb class gear. A decent reel with at least 350m of line on it.

Ideally bring 2 set-ups as I want to have four main rigs at varying depths on balloons and a final set-up tight to the boat with a livebait.

So if you can be ready for Friday 14th with a couple of good rod and reel set-ups, can handle my boat if we need to chase a fish and don't mind Abbie and me having the odd smooch sick.gif then please apply below!

Oh costs will be half the fuel (cost depends on what we burn - probably

Hold that thought!

The FPO has decided that if we go she wants it to be just the two of us sick.gif .

I am not sure how, but she has in her head that it will be a romantic day afloat! ohmy.gif

All that rubby dubby, mackerel guts and potentially very macho grunting and groaning (playing a shark, nothing else lads).

HOWEVER

I am planning a few shark sessions this year so if you fancy crewing please put your name down and I will try and fit you in.

Mike helpfull as usuall.........

Tom - couple of questions;

1. Does your mate have a suitable 'friend'?

2. I have a Shakespear Wondereel 20 and have managed to get 180m of whiplash on it - would this be suitable twinned with an Uglystick 1/8oz spinning rod or would the outfit be to heavy?

3. It is OK for 2 boats to share the same slick?

Tom as yu will read elsware I could not keep refusing trips and today left the boat building to go out 20 miles with Humphrey on Ow Much

On the way out early this morning I noticed a few strange swirls in the water and just after asking Neil what he thought it might be, a Thresher of about 6ft long came completly out of the water about 50 yards away.

It had been chasing the mackeral on the surface, and was a great sight. We stopped the boat but did not see it again.

It may be a good sign for your trip mate biggrin.gif

Hi Tom

I also off Friday with the misses

Do you fancy company for shark fishing with Ginsky??

At the moment I am waiting to see what the FPO says as she is not sure if she can get the time off.

My real concern is that in the unlikely event of actually hooking one I could have done with competent crew onboard to help with the boat and also traceing the fish alongside.

The FPO wants this trip to be "just the two of us and a picnic" so I guess this will be truly single handed if it goes ahead.

Can't see any problem with other boats following / joining the drift though, but would suggest plenty of rubby dubby between us to keep the trail going.

dont worry about a gaff just let fpo talk it to death laugh.gif

Actually that would work!

I keep meaning to get a "Priest" onboard the boat for despatching the "tasties" I take home.

...No need for a priest.... a wife or girlfriend will do just fine!

Brave talk! I assume Abbie doesn't read your posts on here. What's it worth not to alert her?
