I had one like that stolen off my boat Kara-Sea when she was on her mooring in Holes Bay about 30 years ago. I hereby lay claim to it!

Anyone interested in this state of the art piece of kit?

Is there a museum or retiremnt home out there somewhere?

No idea if it works, but comes complete with through hull transducer.

There are those amongst us who will remember the days that those were the state of the art; And close examination of the way the LED light flickered one could even tell what the bottom was like (or so they claimed).

I would certainly be interested, if only for the nostalgia value, it could go on the dinghy. How much would you like for it?

I was hoping someone would take it on that basis, seems a shame to bin it just 'cos it's old!

Like I said, I don't even know if it works, so if you take it away and if it turns out to be of any use to you, then a donation to the lifeboats or similar would be just fine.

That's great, my friend, I really appreciate it. Let me have a p.m. of your address and I'll arrange to collect it next time I'm down, which will be as soon as the weather improves and I can arrange a crew.

Echo sounder collected and thanks very much, Charlie. I'll let you know if it's working in due course, meanwhile I'm revelling in times past when we used to catch plaice to order.
