pegleg
Cheers guys . Any opinions on an abu 10000? seems to foot the bill and at a reasonable price too. Jas
Newboy
If it's made in Taiwan, read it somewhere a lot of the internal parts are plastics and don't stand up too well to heavy use. What is your budget?

Paul J
JAS, imo, a good used one is better than a cheap new one (within reason) PJ
pegleg
Well guys bought a abu 10000 for
Bob F
Abu will be ok but you will need to wash it after each trip and keep it well maintained. Penn's tend to be a little more tolerant of abuse and less prone to corrosion in my experience. BF
alun j.
Good points Bob! I love Abu reels........ strong, light and smart........... but they do need a wash. 10000 is a big reel...... what is it matched with?? If you end up looking for something a bit smaller for our feisty inshore quary.......give me a shout. Lots of us have appreciated the pleasures of fishing with lighter tackle......eg. braid line and solid C rods. Alun.
pegleg
Thanks for your advice Bob. Alan the rod i'm matching the reel with is a 30/50. I bought the gear to fish for the bigger fish in strong tides etc, when a large lead is required. If and when i hook into a big fish(somewhen hopefully soon) i want to get it to the boat and get the hook out , rather than say the line snaps and the fish ends up dragging a 2lb weight around for a while. I do have lighter rods too. When i do need a lighter reel you'll be the first i'll tap up for a deal. Cheers Jas.
