alun j. Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Hi PJ., Sorry to read this thread; I have a little experience on how you must be feeling, having been the victim of a garage burglary, years ago in a previous house, when someone walked off with all my stuff ........ it's a sickening feeling, as much as the loss! [ and the agro.] I hope you have a sympathetic insurance company and soon get sorted. You are , of course, welcome out on Gastronaught. Good luck for the comp. tomorrow, Alun. Quote
Paul J Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Alun, I would love to join you on Gastronaught soon i've just been down to South Coast marine for an estimate and had a good chat with Paul the engineer. Apparently my incident is just the tip off the iceburg and there has been a lot of activity in and around my Mooring. there have been two other boats stolen in the past week including the Orkney that is usually moored next the waterloo bridge- just up steam from me. alun j. Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 What a shame there are so many horrible people about... or is it just a few ?? If everyone interested in boats belonged to groups like PBSBAC then perhaps it wouldn't happen! [....... how naive am I ?? ]. Alun. Quote
Paul D Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 Paul - Was that the Orkney I was admiring from the slipway the other week ? Quote
Paul J Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 This was a 520 i think with a white canopy PY Quote
Paul D Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 Yes that was the one I was looking at. right by the bridge ( as in last boat before the bridge ). Quote
great white Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Perhaps its time for the Club to invest in some security marking equipment and loan it to Members to mark their kit. or do it after a Club meeting The Yacht Club did this years ago, and even when boats are tampered with clearly marked items of equipment have been left onboard, it appears that kit that has been engraved with the boat name and post code has little "Street Value" A hand engraver , warning stickers and UV pens are not that expensive Just a thought Charlie Quote
Swainiac Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Charlie, UV pens should be avaiable from the local crime prevention oficer. Quote
Afishionado Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Charlie, UV pens should be avaiable from the local crime prevention oficer. I checked at my local Nick but some bugger had stolen all the UV pens............ Mad Mike Quote
