Sole Man
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the regular and the small charts apart from the size and which as a novice is the best to buy. Cheers, John
Coddy
Hi John It all depends on the make of chart, i.e. Garmin C-Map, Navonics to name 3! Small gives you limited area It all depends how much traveling/trailering you intend to do. I have the old C-Map 'Standard' size map which covers from Selsey to Portland plus all the harbours and rivers of both sides of the Channel + Channel Islands. This I find quite sufficent as I fish both sides of the IOW at times and Weymouth. If I need to go West of Portland, out of club's waters, it works but no great detail but could easily get around ok. Swainiac
Mark and I have the 3g card, this gives additional info such as light flasshes etc from cardinals, just run the cursor over the obeject and info is displayed. It can also flag up vessels over a certain tonnage, allowing you to determine speed distance and bearing, so you can run a course, to see if they are coming your way, usefull farther out in low vis.
