Afishionado
I need to do about 1 Sq Meter of deck quickly and cheaply with some none slip deck paint. The thought occured to me that some one may have the dregs of a tin gathering dust somewhere, if so I will be happy to pay a pitance for it Colour realy doesn't matter but light blue would be nice... Newboy
I have some garage floor paint (blueish grey I think) from when I painted my Shetland's deck and sprinkled sand over it for grip.
Coddy
Mike As Kam suggested but make sure you use "silver sand". I did mine by mixing the sand with the paint in the tin first and use an old throw away brush. Lasted over 18mths on my old Seahog. Newboy
What is silver sand? Is it like silver bullets..... When I did my Shetland, I first painted the deck, then by using a seive while standing on the gunnel and sprinkled sand (while the paint is still wet) I got from the beach. They worked a treat, only problem is that they are a pain for my naked knees.
Afishionado
Quote......only problem is that they are a pain for my naked knees. As Kam so rightly says the 'sand' option albeit a good none slip is murder on bare flesh. I was hoping to get something that had a sorta suede finish. I wonder if ground up Hushpuppies would work? Swainiac
Mike, I would advise against using beach sand, as it has a high salt content, and doesnt lend itself to construction very well.........our kennel runs in the Falklands were laid on a base of concrete made with sand from the beaches, as they didnt have sufficient quantity of building sand down there, and it washed away during kennel cleaning!!! Just a thought. Rich
