Phil V
I am currently on the search for a new (or nearly new) boat which I will be sharing with a pal mainly for fishing in Poole Bay and occassionally taking out the missus. We will probably put the boat on a dry rack and want to keep the option of launching ourselves. Having spent many hours searching the web and reading reviews I have narrowed it down to one of the following options: Warrior 165, Predator 160, Explorer elite, endeavour, Alaska 500 or Raider 16/18. This is still quite a large choice and I will be looking at a Predator shortly which is favourably priced. Does anyone have any views to add that might help with our deliberations? As you can imagine there is a bewildering amount of choice out there and all these boats seem quite similar? Many thanks, Phil V
cascars
I had an Alaska 500 for 3 years and although it was not a bad boat, space was very limited once you have all your gear plus an anchor bucket on board. It also tends to slam in any chop. Solid boat though and never felt in any danger.
duncan
phil - if you search this particual forum from the begining you will find many threads giving a large amount of comment on most of these boats - and comparing them - including contribution from some manufacturers. Member Removed
Hi Phil, I was in a similar position tou yourself but having a 3year old and 6 year old and needing to be able to use the boat as a family boat plus as the misus believes fishing as an added bonus (myself it was the opposite way round) I went for a 2nd hand Warrior 175 much more room than the others you've mentioned but on par with the Rader 18 (cuddy version anything else susceptible to wind), Really is great Boat easy to launch for the 2 of us and recover, safe for the Kids perviously youngest didn't like boats now falls to sleep on it, Honda 90 fitted but would prefer 115 fuel consumption is brilliant very frugal compared to old Mercury 90. You can pick 2nd 175 for
