Newboy Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 I have decided on the Navman 7100 (cos it's cheap..... ), obviously I'll need an antenna and a mount, anything else to add or are these all I need? Quote
Bob F Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Yep, that would be my choice at the moment (cos it's cheap) but reasonable quality, local support, and full DSC in one box. The only other thing I can think of is the VHF DSC license if you haven't already got one. Once you have the license you need to send away for your MMSI number which you will enter into the unit when you power it up for the first time. In some older models of DSC VHF's you had to enter the MMSI number during the first power up, otherwise you couldn't go any further with the set up. With most new models you can enter the MMSI number later if you don't have it. Quote
Newboy Posted May 5, 2004 Author Report Posted May 5, 2004 I'm booked in fir my oneday course for next monday and provided I pass (btw, is it possible to fail it?), I will be ok. Quote
Bob F Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 The course I was on they gave you most of the answers, so you'd have to work really hard to fail. But if you do, you see teacher straight away and do it again. Quote
