spNOam Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 Anyone tried these? Are they any good? They look as though they should do the job...... but do they just catch more fishermen I wonder? http://www.traceace.com/Bass%20Bandits_Eddystone%20tail.htm Quote
Newboy Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 I would think it's more for shallow water trolling or spinning, however I've used a similar one on a portland rig and it caught bass, so I guess it was as good as any storm lure. ps you can also get them on ebay. Quote
spNOam Posted December 16, 2006 Author Report Posted December 16, 2006 Thanks Kam, most of my bassing is done over reefs & rocky ground no more than 12' deep...looks like father christmas may be getting an addition to my list! Quote
TomBettle Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I had the luck of meeting Laurence the guy from Trace Ace who actually makes them. I was staying inthe same hotel as him a couple of years ago when we were both exhibiting at Go Fishing. Nice bloke and I truly believe the hype he was putting to them. He tended to fish them from the shingle beaches around Kent and had made some truly remarkable catches where co-fishermen alongside were blanking. He kindly gave me a bunch to try and I haven't really given them a fair crack of the whip so to date they have blanked for me. This is unfair as I always reach for a tried and tested lure instead. If Laurence is as good as his word then In would suggest giving them a really good go and I bet you'll do well with them. Tom PS: They are very simply lures. Lead head styles with redgill type bodies and some reflective tape for the heads. Simple enough to be effective. Quote
spNOam Posted December 17, 2006 Author Report Posted December 17, 2006 Thanks Tom, My order has been placed, I'll keep you guys posted as to how I get on with them. Quote
cascars Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 My mate Ray that regularly comes out on my boat swears by these. He has used them wrecking and inshore trolling and I have to admit he has had some good fish on them. A bit on the expensive side for a snaggy wreck though if you lose a few! Quote
