gaffa
Hi, Can anyone recommend a local Uphostery service and or Marine Fabric Supplier. I have removed Reflections 2 interior bench seats and need them recovered. They are simple rectangular structures made with foam on a plywood base and covered in a herringbone material stapled to the plywood base. A few Buttons give them the quilted effect. I'm trying to con she that shall be obeyed into attempting them but not having much luck so need cunning alternative plan. They are too unweildy to put through the Post Any Constructive Suggestions gratefully received Pete
TomBettle
Pete We use "Undercover" based in Shirley, Southampton. They are absolutely first class and do anything from full awnings to upholstery. ...All colours and fabrics available.... I seem to remember doing a lilac pink leather interior for a "gentleman" once on his very posh new gin palace... ...He and his chums were very pleased with the finished product with the leather being "ever so fun and slippery". Not sure why, but it may have had something to do with the baby oil they were rubbing into each other... Give John Heinz a call at Undercover on 02380 704044 There are a few local companies to Poole too. I haven't personally used them so can't be too sure about their quality. I am sure others will give you an idea.
Afishionado
Flexicovers are a local firm (Bpournemouth/Poole) but upholstery work is generally very expensive, if you can DIY do so. If they are simple rectangles and you or the Mrs can do a 'Hospital bed' corner tuck on the material you can do a good job yourself. Your local Library will have a load of books about upholstery in fact I think I have a book about boat refurbishment that you are welcome to borrow. gaffa
Thanks guys, I will follow up leads Mike, I thought the same as you - I can't imagine why the missus has taken so long to do them. As you say its only a matter of a couple of(well 4 to be exact )corner tucks and a bit of stapling, and there are only 3 of them. I probably approached it in the wrong way on one of her off days. I keep on telling her she can pick the material and the colour(as long as its blue) Women they can be so sensitive! Better send this quick before she sees it and I lose even more browny points!!
