Bob F
Fished the Shambles yesterday onboard Pegleg's great new boat, Marichelle. No signs of Plaice for anyone we spoke to (including us). Apparently, the tide was wrong. Too much ebb tide thoughout the day. Need to fish the early flood tide. As usual, we should have been there the day before 'cus plaice were being caught on the early morning flood. But, there were a number of small cod being taken on ragworm, including one for Jas (Pegleg. So, it was good to see Jas catch on his maiden voyage. Jimbob and I just maintained a supporting role throughout the day. BF Edited April 7, 2007 by Bob F
pegleg
Thankyou Bob and Jimbo for doing an excellent job on my maiden voyage. Well i was very happy not to blank and hopefully this is a good sign for the future. I learnt a hell of alot from Bob F but unfortunately for me alot of it went in on ear and out the other, i put it down to nervous excitement. So apologies now Bob you'll have to come out again soon ..........PLEASE....... It's quite amazing how different it was for me from crewing for Bob where i didnt really have to take too much notice of much and then have Bob crew for me and realise how much more i had take into consideration. This was great because i was learning as we were going along ,but exhausting too, as i found out the next day. Well we met up with Adam and Gordon at the hood and we all agreed we had an excellent day especially Adam, so i tried to blag a pollock or two from him but he wouldn't have any of it..... I don't know how how he can eat so many. So the day left Bob , Jimbo, and myself to go home with our tail between our legs and not able to put food on the table ........But there's always next time and i can't wait..... Thanks Guys Jas
Paul D
and Bob forgot to mention the 9 plaice on the boat ( had me and PJ convinced - ). Still as they say, he who laughs last laughs loudest and in this case its not me but another member caught a 13lb 4oz cod whilst fishing on the Shambles around an hour ago....... Bob F
Jas's cod was about the same size (1lb). One boat we talked to also had a big cod, so there seems to be a lot of cod on the Shambles at the moment for some reason. Anyway, a Cod and a Turbot is a rare combination. Hats off to you. Swainiac
Bob, Cod will be showing for a while from now on, ask the Bass boys!! Todays tide is best for plaice, possibly better even tomorrow. Rich
