jack
Very interesting site Andy, but you cant rely on the figures quoted,as they are a long way from accurate.I have tried to find a few of them with little success,I know where a couple are for sure, and they are not where the wrecksite say's they are.But certainly true about whileing away your time.We have whiled away quite a bit of it on them. jack

Coddy
If you fancy a good read about shipwrecks, this book, South Coast Shipwrecks off East Dorset and Wight 1870 - 1979 is a good read. Loads of pictures and details. Gives good positions of wrecks and details of which way it lies. Some interesting information on how and why the ship went down. Author is David Wendes, who is a diver, published by; Wight Sprit Charters, PO Box 502, Eastleigh, SO50 0BU - Cost
jack
You are correct Trevor,I too have spent hours studying these charts. What a pity our own section between Xchurch ledge and Portland is not covered in detail.Perhaps one day it will,I may even "fill it in " myself. jack
Coddy
I like to play with this area http://users.pandora.be/tree/wreck/wreck-d...html?chartId=70 Hi Trev Interesting that in Swanage Bay they show the Castlereagh SS and a little below the Firth Fisher, as both names belong to the same boat! The boat was first named Firth Fisher in 1910 but when she sunk in Feb 1925 she had changed ownership and name to Castlereagh. Of course there may have been two ships named the same! Fugazi
Interesting that in Swanage Bay they show the Castlereagh SS and a little below the Firth Fisher, as both names belong to the same boat! The boat was first named Firth Fisher in 1910 but when she sunk in Feb 1925 she had changed ownership and name to Castlereagh. Ownership of the wreck changed again in 1985 when I and two friends bought the wreck from her owners at the time of loss, John Kelly & Co of Belfast. Interestingly the brass letters on the bow stated she was the Castlereagh but the bell still had Firth Fisher engraved on it. The wreck is only small and since the mid 80s the wreck has totally collapsed leaving very little to show on the echo sounder. It also lies across the tide so it
