Rob
I am unfortunately missing my first PBABAC comp this weekend as I am booked on Channel Chieftain out of Weymouth Saturday and Sunday. I am joining a group of guys from CEFAS so I am hoping with their skills onboard we can't fail to catch!!!!! Also, one of the potential family days is on the same day as my 1st wedding anniversary (17th June), having mentioned the date I got "the look", so I am sure I won't make it, there is always the August one! Good luck to everyone in the comp. Tight Lines Rob

Rob
My Saturday charter was blown-off, not surprising! Leaving me happy I have booked 2 days! However, it turned out to by not the greatet day fish wise but as usual, a good day out. Sunday was an early start (5:30 - at the boat), I was glad I had been able to stay on Portland. However, once underway I was bemused to find out we were heading to St. Alban's Ledge to drift for Bass. Having driven from Bournemouth the previous night to Weymouth I was left thinking, I'm sure I am now nearer home than Weymouth!! Never the less the day was slow fish wise, a couple were picked up during the slack then one every couple of drifts. So much for the same boat landing 50 Bass the previous week at this location! I only managed a solitary Bass, sized around the limit so back it went. Lost a big fish for no apparent reason, definatley a fish witnesses agreed, my mate said it was mother earth! Good day all in all, weather was fantastic. Glad to hear \ see some you you did well in the Bream Comp. Rob
Gnasher
what were the bass taking? were you finding maccy or in numbers or were they on lures?
Rob
The bass were taking most things! Rubber worms, rubber eels (the real looking ones), and small shads. We had a solitary one mackerel, but we did not feather for them. A small commercial boat was catching bass like they were going out of fashion using live sand eel and working a very small drift (50 yds at most), not possible on a charter! Pat does like his long drifts ......... Haven't seen anyone who drift as long as he does out off Weymouth.
Rob
Kam, In the end Pat was not the skipper, we were on a cat but I can't remember the name, it was registered in Portsmouth! The skipper was a young guy called Lyle.
