Dry Run

Mark and I decided on a dry run for our next species comp, well, after we heard that the trawlers had been out in force raping the shambles again. With a boat lost in the race last week, the bass were safe, so we decided on one of our more profitable marks, in both species and prize money, a short steam from the Harbour.

Straight into mackeral over the Hartlepool, superb joeys, a full string each drop, so off to our chosen mark. Fish from the off, and some good specimens too. Baits were half fillets, fillets and flappers, worms, and squid. Rigs, our normal short trace one hookers for the heavies, and tiny two/single hook paternosters.

Toadays haul included Bream, Red Gurnard (six!! wink.gif ), Spotted Ray, two very nice Thornies, Tope, a couple of good sized LSD and a bucket full of fresh macky to go home with. With fish coming on both flood and ebb, the back up mark no more than 1/4 mile away wasnt needed. All in all, a very enjoyable day afloat, Nipper behaved superbly as usual, sun, no rain, and a pint with Mr Short in the clubhouse afterwards ended a great day.

Roll on next weekend.

Indeed Charlie.....but with the news that the netters had been on the shambles, and a Bass boat was lost in the Race last week, we decided upon a peacefull day at anchor in the sun......a few beers...a few bacon sarnies........oh...and more than our share of species thrown in.

The Bass Comp plan is already sorted........ wink.gif
