Rob
Guys, I am hoping to try for rays tomorrow somewhere near Swanage. If anyone can help me with numbers I would be most grateful, though I do have a rough idea. But where can I find mackrell around Poole Harbour entrance? B,mouth? Ballard? Help, I have never caught a West Poole Bay Mackerel! Cheers Rob
Neal
Rob Once past the ferry follow down the swash channel - just before the last channel marker turn left towards a yellow buoy ( Protected wreck buoy - no fishing!) about 50 meters south the bottom drops rapidly down from 20ft to 45ft - always a good spot to get a few mackerel on the way out. If you are going offshore for the rays - their are now plenty out there - so a couple of drifts over your ray mark should pick them up. We were also catctching a full string every time we dropped the feathers down whilst anchored. Save some for me - I am going out for the blonde rays again tomorrow Cheers Neal

Rob
Mike, Thanks for the PM. I thought you said 1.5 miles not .5 miles, after re-reading my notes I tracked back!!!! Had trouble though, got the hook down and found that the tide was blasting through. Couldn't get a bait down even with 16oz on 20lb pro braid! I assume I need to fish this site when the tide is running slower? Advise would be gratefully received. Managed a few mackerel on the way back in for BBQ on sunday.
