djredrupp
after reading of some using superglue to cement knots tight on mono, i was wondering if this is also OK on something like Amnesia (as is is flourocarbon (??) not mono), and possibly braid? im currently using about 5turns on a Uni Knot as a general knot for everything. Dan Not too sure about braid. I don't think it will harm braid through chemical reaction, but as it is likely to creep into the lay by capilliary action it may well when set, enable the braid to snap easily through fatigue stress. Swainiac
Watch out using super glue on rigs......it becomes brittle when immerssed in salt water. Another impact type super glue called Mitre Mate is good, a tad more expensive, but holds well in the sea. Used on my match rigs. Afishionado
I have used it on Mono for fixing stop beads on paternoster booms and it worked fine. Flouro? I have no experience but my gut feeling is that it will work fine. Mad Mike
djredrupp
is mitre mate in essence the same as mitre fast? used for gluing mitre joints.... Dan
Afishionado
I think all diisocyanate based glues have the same properties and giving them different names is a marketing ploy. But that is only my opinion. Mike
Gazza
If you need to use glue with the knots your using i would consider changing knots Is the knot your using failing ? Are you wetting the knot before tightening it ? Gazza
djredrupp
insulting my knots! how dare you! lol no theres no current problem with 5 turns on a uni knot (7 for braid), but i thought that mono might need it or it would help me trim the knot end down without worrying that it may slip through! Swainiac
Gazza......super glue is used on micro beads that act as stops behind two way beads.......which allow the use of longer snoods on individual paternosters on multi hool rigs. They spin far more freely that swivels trapped between crimp/stop knots and beads, and allow the almost perfect presentation of baits in tide for multiple species. On descent from the boat they are near tangle free, and the implementation of super glue on the knots and beads, allows the use of far finer B/S mono, than usual stiffer type snoods made to make the baited hooks "stand up", thus leading to far finer rigs, which should in turn, give almost invisible bait presentation. Hope that doesnt sound to up myself or complicated, it isnt really, just what I have seen the international guys using on the circuit, and it works. Gazza
Dan, If a drop of superglue is going to make you more confident with your knots then use it (no insulting intended) Dan, Boy you sure know some tricks...Keep them coming I could do with as much Knowledge as i can get Gazza
Gnasher
not to sure how the salt will affect the glue, but if it dosn't then if will defo not harm the braid! All the carp boys use glue to stiffen the the last inch of braid on there hooklinks and it works great with zero braid damage. I would think you would be fine using it

boybilly
Always glue my knots same as Rich, dead right coz it is a confidence thing for light lines. Just another point, Amnesia is not a flouro carbon line, it is memory free. BB
