Boat Docking

There are many of these all over the States. With some, the bottom of the leg is still in the water when fully down, on others there is some sort of worm and screw device that raises the shore side of the ramp, and on yet more others they have rope and pully set ups dock sides that winch the boat bacwards until it is half way in the water.

the cheap ones are just on rollers so one big push gets it off very affective and save a fair bit on antifoul

Think you better tell your dad that he got the wrong boat as it should have been a cat and he better sell now before it costs even more and start on a new Cat with this mooring facility. laugh.giflaugh.gif

As Mike suggests it could save on anti-foul paint! wink.gif

Think I better start ducking down now! ohmy.gif

Actually I believe it's the antifouling thing that has lead to the popularity of these ride on docks in the USA.

Many states ban the use of antifoul on pleasure craft when used on enclosed fresh waters or the East and West coast intercostals, fearing the build up of toxins in the enclosed and delicate eco systems.

Hi all

We have one of these for a 6 mtr RIB

we were aprehensive about it at first but it is spot on

The RIB lines itself up and drives on, simply stop the engine and tilt it up after use and the whole boat and engine is out of the water.

To launch its engine down then started and a gentle reverse pulls it off the pontoon

The leading edge sinks when the boat goes on but as the boat weight spreads over more floats it gets higher out of the water.

The other system is the Hydro hoist , where you dock the boat in a frame over air tanks, when you pump air in, it forces the salt water out and lifts the boat clear of the water.

The downside is that you need a berth in the first place and then have to buy the dock system. our costs that would be 2.5 k per yaer for the berth plus about 6k to buy the Hydro hoist in the first place.
