Was out on Flamer 3 today on one of the Friday Fishers species hunt.

Sea state was calm, weather overcast but light winds.

We all had to be on the boat for 7.30 ready for the 8am bridge opening.

First stop was to Portland entrance to try for mackerel but nothing showed apart from a pin bream.

Then off to the mussel beds where most of the charter fleet was and we were drifting for bream. Some good sizes were brought to the boat and all were returned. smile.gif

Then around the West side of the Bill to try for mackerel again but only 2 were picked up. We then headed for Kidney Bank and anchored and one guy mamaged to pull in a 21lb blonde ray. Apart from a few doggies and anothe smaller blonde nothing else was caught so the skipper called everyone up and we went to a couple of wrecks to drift for bass and pollock, not much showed on the the first wreck except for a single bass. The next wreck was almost as quite but we then went onto the M3 sub. There we picked up loads of pout, some really big and a couple of good pollock.

To finish off the day we went inshore for wrasse and we were soon into them and also tackle loss! sad.gif I managed to pick up my first ever Red Gurnard and let it go after it gave some good grunts! Other fish picked up were garfish, poor cod and various variations of wrasse.

Soon it was time to go and so a steady motor back into port.

Not a too bad a day but hard work to find fish.

Who was your Skipper ? I was out on Flamer 2 weeks ago, Colin has done his leg in so Steve skippered, we drifted off Portland mussel beds, 5 rods took 15 Bass, then a short move for the Bream, lost count of the numbers, only took 2 home so wasn't counting, then a last hour on the banks, 1 Brill approx 4lb.

I'm told Colin does the 7-30 cos he don't like coming in when it's dark !!

Sounds like you had a good day as well.
