Member Removed Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 Seems we aren't the only ones with gear probs. Setting out from Cobs on sunday the forward gear didn't engage very well but we only went about 100yrds before anchoring up to fish. It wasn't till we decided to move that we found we couldn't get forward gear. Reverse was no prob. I lifted the engine cover (it's a 3l mercruiser 4cyl petrol) to find where the cables come in. Luckily enough they are right ontop of the engine. It looks like a cable comes frome the remote to a linkage then down to the leg. They looked like they were moving ok but not transfering to the leg cable? There's what looks like a smal damper on the linkage. The remote is also past it's prime! Where do we start???? I managed to get forward by some adjustment on the linkage which only just lasted the day. Quote
shytalk Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 id speak to a mechanic the linkage works something along the lines of a brief engine stall to change gear !! Quote
Member Removed Posted December 19, 2007 Author Report Posted December 19, 2007 I'm not afraid of wielding a spanner! I built my last Landrover from scratch & am in the process of designing/building a propane injection system for my present Tdi Quote
