Now that I've used our new Merry Fisher a few times and getting the hang of this boating lark again after so many years, I'm ready to dip my rod biggrin.gif I picked up a couple of rods & reels from the shop on the quay so when I've worked out in which order the bloody hooks, weights, plastic bits, plastic balls go and then how to tie the damn knots, I'll be ready to give the local fish a bit of trouble !!!

What I would be really grateful for is any advice on areas around the bay which would be worth fishing this time of year. I'm not really ready for a ten mile offshore trip (I'd probably puke) but anything fairly coastal would be great.

In fact any advice about anything will be greatfully digested !

We had a run out to Old Harry today and it was amazing to be back out on the water, it was fab at lunch time, no wind and sun shining, a bit lively coming past Hook Sands but the boat handled absolutely fantastic and gave me great confidence and my faith in outboard motors is slowly returning too !

Also a big Thank You to Tom at Southern Motorboats who supplied the boat just before Christmas, its been a pleasure to give you my money biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif LOL !

Cheers !

Stu

P.S. Just got thumbs up from the Mrs for a buzz round the bay tomorrow morning so if you see a blue Merry Fisher give me a wave !

Hello mate. Have you got a chart plotter & fish finder? They are invaluble to find features to fish.

We've been franticly finding spots since the boat went in. If we spot anything whilst motoring on the ff we just punch the 'mark' button on the plotter for a better look later.

We've found a huge lot of info on the plotter!

Hi Stu

I can endorse others in recomending joining the Club and fishing talking with the Members

You may just want to pick up a few general areas to start with and fish them a few times to get used to fishing and boating techniques. Then add more marks as you go.

Dogger be carefull with the plotting of every viewed object, In my experiance you may never get time to revisit them. I would adnise weeding them out [maybe after logging the numbers elseware] if you have not tried them in 6 months or so.

Not a lot of good having 100 waypoints showing on the plotter, if you only use a dozen or so.

That said some of my best Marks have been gained by revisiting "Interesting" features that I have noted using your method.

Have fun and tight lines
